Most handguns are bought for protection, however, many gun owners find it difficult to lock up their firearms in case of an emergency. Existing box-style safes do not allow immediate access - no matter how fast they claim to be. Vara Safety’s Reach is an entirely new approach. As a holster-safe, the Reach is an “open” style concept that gives gun owners BOTH immediate access and storage security. The Reach uses biometric technology in conjunction with a versatile mechanical platform that allows for compatibility with most firearms. We will later expand to include smart data, communication, and analytics for law enforcement and military applications.

Position Overview

Vara Safety is accepting applicants for a talented content creator to join our marketing team in Troy, New York. The Vara Safety Content Creator reports to the Chief Executive Officer, works in tandem with the Digital Marketing Specialist, and supports all aspects of the company’s marketing efforts. 

The position helps with the planning, creation, and publication of both static and video content on the Vara Safety website, 3rd party e-commerce sites, and sales promotional items. The goal of this position is to produce digital and printed content that increases brand awareness, lead generation, and direct sales. Future projects will include A/B testing of digital content, developing brand kits and guidelines for new products, and establishing the artistic tone of Vara Safety media.

The ideal candidate for this position is creative, curious, a great visualist, and a multi-tasker capable of creating high-quality content that conveys a message of how the Reach holster-safe can make a difference in people’s lives.

Responsibilities Overview

  • Deliver a consistent visual content production strategy, and look & feel for the brand, that is uniquely adapted to each digital & social platform and target audience.

  • Organize and execute photo and video shoots that follow company brand concepts and storyboards.

  • Produce engaging, creative visual content for the brand across various media including still images to videos, live streams to GIFs/Cinemagraphs, etc.

  • Deliver visual content against production plans on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Design and create visual support (both static & video) for creative briefs.

  • Collaborate with our advertising team to identify compelling stories and adjust imagery to fit ad placements on multiple platforms.

Candidate Attributes

  • 1-2 years as a multi-media creator in the marketing or advertising world, or experience developing content for marketing, retail, digital media, and e-mails.

  • Good eye for design and imagery. Great compositional and typographical skills.

  • Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro, or similar programs.

  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS. Experience in Squarespace, Wordpress, and MailChimp editors a plus.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media tools, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Experience effectively working with corporate accounts a plus.

  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, and have a proven track record in multitasking effectively.

  • A proven portfolio of quality work that demonstrates familiarity with filmmaking, graphic design and social media.
