Most handguns are bought for protection, however, many gun owners find it difficult to lock up their firearms in case of an emergency. Existing box-style safes do not allow immediate access - no matter how fast they claim to be. Vara Safety’s Reach is an entirely new approach. As a holster-safe, the Reach is an “open” style concept that gives gun owners BOTH immediate access and storage security. The Reach uses biometric technology in conjunction with a versatile mechanical platform that allows for compatibility with most firearms. We will later expand to include smart data, communication, and analytics for law enforcement and military applications.

Position Overview

Vara Safety is accepting applications for a full-time supply chain manager position. The position has core responsibilities of sourcing material for current and new product lines, establishing redundant supply chains, and continually evaluating parts and partnerships to decrease the cost of goods sold. Additional responsibilities will include working closely with our contract manufacturer to ensure quality assurance and support any needs they may have.  

A well-qualified candidate should be capable of seamlessly taking over the supply chain while self-managing time, goals, and responsibilities. Candidate should be willing to travel ~10% in order to ensure quality with our suppliers and manufacturers. Knowledge of electronics, biometrics, and mechanical systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes & develops strong relationships with key suppliers and contract manufacturers.

  • Identifies & develops alternative suppliers and contract manufacturers for major product lines.

  • Researches suppliers to support the introduction of new products.

  • Takes lead in negotiating pricing & contract terms.

  • Works with suppliers & internal staff to resolve quality issues when necessary.

  • Ensures suppliers meet our quality & delivery expectations.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

  • Implement tracking and recording systems that streamline CM production.

Candidate Attributes

  • Have 2-4 years’ experience in the supply chain process.

  • Have experience with international sourcing, shipping, and procurement process.

  • Have experience with contract manufactures, quality assurance is a plus.

  • ERP-business integration experience.

  • Be willing to provide extraordinary talent, dedication, and flexibility above and beyond a typical corporate work environment.

  • Experience with high volume and low volume, high mix manufacturing.
